Mark A. Satawa and Lisa B. Kirsch Satawa have been selected once again for inclusion as Michigan Super Lawyers for 2012. Super Lawyers is an attorney rating service operated by international business data provider Thomson Reuters. Less than five percent of all Michigan attorneys are selected as a Super Lawyer.
Super Lawyers uses a four-step peer review process to screen attorneys for selection. Attorneys may not nominate or campaign for themselves, but rather they must be nominated by their peers. Candidates are evaluated on 12 areas of professional achievement and peer recognition, including experience, verdicts and settlements, special licenses and certifications, scholarly lectures and writings, and pro bono and community service. The top candidates are then screened by peers in the attorney’s primary practice area. Finally, candidates are grouped and compared with attorneys according to the size of their practices, ensuring representation for small, medium and large firms.
The final Super Lawyers list is published nationally in the Super Lawyers magazines and website (www.superlawyers.com). The first Super Lawyers list was published in 1991. The rating service went national in 2009, before Thomson Reuters acquired it in 2010.
Lisa B. Kirsch Satawa also appeared as a 2009 and 2011 Michigan Super Lawyer, as a specialist in criminal defense and family law.
Mark A. Satawa previously appeared as a 2009 and 2011 Michigan Super Lawyer, as a criminal defense, criminal appellate practice, and criminal defense–white collar specialist. He is also AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, a Metro Detroit Top Lawyer by dBusiness, and a top 100 trial lawyer by the American Trial Lawyers Association.
